FAQs

  • I’ve got a Do-it-Yourself book with great illustrations. Couldn’t I just grab some tools and make the plumbing repair myself?
    • Many books make plumbing look easy. However, that “small” repair may not be as insignificant as it looks:

      • Your plumbing system is pressure-oriented. A quarter-turn too much could have negative sometimes devastating, consequences elsewhere
      • Would you know how to spot potential problems? Or know if those drips on the pipe exiting the water heater mean anything? Waking up to a flooded basement is no joke
      • If the part you’ve chosen isn’t the right size or quality, it may seize up or snap off causing a much larger and expensive repair sooner than you think

A plumber’s job is 90% detective work and 10% physical repair. Becoming a competent detective, however, takes 5-years of training and many, many more in the field. With plumbing, little problems lead to bigger ones.

  • Why doesn’t Royal Plumbing offer maintenance plans like other companies?
    • These plans create the perception that a plan members’ emergency will receive priority status. However, there’s often a wait time of between 4-hours to 2-days. Plumbing troubles require fast response times and efficient fixes so that’s what we focus on.
  • In a remodeling job, what advantage do clients gain in dealing directly with tradespeople and Royal’s personally known shop owners?
    • They save a lot of money yet still receive the guidance, assurance, and craftsmanship desired. With a 1-to-1 relationship, homeowners gain a much higher sense of control and understanding. Nothing is overlooked because the tradespeople invited are chosen as much for their character as for their expertise.

Materials and fixtures-wise, clients get them at cost: That’s 40%-50% off retail for sinks, baths, counter tops, shower units, etc. They will also receive expert advice on styles, trends, and how the overall design complements their home.

  • Does Royal offer all-inclusive packages?
    • We don’t, just because there are no standard homes or bathrooms. Every one is different and people’s tastes are very personal.
  • How should a client prepare for a remodeling meeting?
    • It’s best to do some homework beforehand:

      • Visit some shops and get a feel for different makes, patterns, levels of quality, and pricing
      • Flip through some magazines for ideas
      • Create a list and have some samples and questions in mind
  • Are my clay floor drain pipes adequate?
    • If your floor drains clear successfully, leave them be. If not, give us a call and we’ll scope out the problem.
