Radiant Floor Heating

Radiant Floor Heating
Warmth, comfort, convenience, silence

Radiant floor heating has been in use since Roman times and is widely used in Europe. It is an extension of your plumbing system where heated water is circulated through in-floor tubing.

Warmth is evenly distributed - from the bottom up - without the distracting noise of a furnace or fan. Thermostats in each room allow temperatures to be customized for comfort or time-of-day.

Our system can be placed in one room, several, or your entire home, and works with any type of flooring. The equipment may be installed in your utility/laundry room (where your furnace is) or wall mounted to save space.

It’s powered by an energy-efficient boiler, hot water heater and a small pump. Lower boiler temperatures are possible with Radiant heating, extending boiler life.

Forced air / Furnace-driven vs. Radiant heating

Factors Forced Air / Furnace-driven Radiant Floor Heating
Warm air distribution Congregates at ceiling height Fans needed to circulate it Evenly distributed in each room & controlled by individual thermostats
Energy usage Older boilers less efficient. Single thermostat can be set too high. New boilers 20%-40% more efficient. No wasted heat
Health matters Impurities in air blown room-to-room by fans No re-circulation of dust, odors, dirt, allergens
Noise Ductwork transmits noise made by furnace & circulating fans Silence is golden
Walking barefoot on tiles A shock to the system Warm and toasty
Living space Basements often cool Pleasant in every room and area
Time controllable? Single thermostat sets temp. Entire system is either ‘on’ or ‘off’ Individual room clocks/timers allow for time-of-day adjustments
Humidity levels Fluctuates. Can be very dry leading to coughs, static shocks Neither adds nor subtracts moisture. Stable humidity
Investment value A necessity. Issue becomes fuel: Oil, gas, electricity, etc. Wise. Increases value. Makes home more attractive to buyers

Renovating?
This may be an appropriate time to extend your hot water system. Introducing Radiant heating to your kitchen, bathrooms, or cool basement dramatically improves your comfort.

New home buyers
If construction hasn’t begun or is only partially completed, Radiant heating can be easily integrated.
